How it works

• Choose your era. Pick a car, then choose 1979 or Present day in setup. Present-day departures include the current year, 2026. Each car's garage label shows which eras it supports. Set the departure date and time to change daylight, season and weather.
• Drive today. In Present day, choose Today · live weather to depart now with current weather and forecasts along the route. Weather follows the trip clock as your journey advances. If fresh data is unavailable, seasonal weather takes over smoothly and the HUD tells you. The multiplayer host chooses the weather for everyone. Weather data: Open-Meteo.
• Choose a driving area. Make the full crossing, race a highway segment, drive out of Manhattan, or start on the Portofino approach. A segment ends at its destination. Departure time is local to your selected area. C or VIEW cycles through chase, distant chase, hood and cockpit views.
• Start your car. With “Start the engine yourself” enabled, pump the gas 2–4 times for the Countach, ambulance or Desert Cruiser, then hold I or START until it catches. Their carburetors still need priming in present-day runs. Too many pumps can flood the engine; crank with the gas held down to clear it. Push-button cars need one press; the hybrid enters READY.
• Vehicle behavior. Tires, gearing, weight, drag, fuel load and engine tuning affect the drive. Altitude costs engine power; rain and snow reduce grip. Setup offers Arcade, Assisted and Realistic handling.
• Trip scale. Highway distance, trip time and fuel consumption are compressed together. The garage departure and hotel arrival streets run in real time.
• 1979. Period traffic, prices and X/K-band radar accompany the original run. Truckers share reports on CB channel 19.
• Present day. Modern traffic, prices, posted speed limits and work zones change the run. The detector also supports Ka radar and laser; the police scanner and RoadPulse provide reports. Instant-on radar can remain silent until a simulated officer takes a reading.
• Fuel and repairs. Take a GAS exit, pull into the station and stop at a pump. R repairs the car and T replaces tires while services are available. Funds are unlimited by default; choose a starting budget in setup to pay for upgrades, fuel and services. If you run dry, F calls for fuel. Getting caught costs time, but the run continues.
